Who are eligible to apply:

An individual who is a foreign journalist of newspapers/magazines/TV or radio networks/ news agencies/ representatives of print, electronics or satellite media/freelance journalist and want to visit Bangladesh for the purpose of collecting information/news or official duty, he/she is eligible to apply for Journalist visa.  

Requirements

  1. Filled in an additional form FF-I, FF-II and Equipment list with signature. Please click here to download the form;
  2. Invitation letter from the concerned organization in Bangladesh mentioning the applicant’s position, passport number and purpose of visit in Bangladesh;
  3. Declaration letter with the description of the purpose of shooting (story line), shooting spot and draft shooting schedule;
  4. A letter from the Organization/Media House where the applicant is currently working.

Please note that after scrutiny of documents, the Embassy may request for an interview and/or submission of additional documents. Issuance of visa may be delayed as it requires clearance from the concerned Ministry in Dhaka.


Duration of visa:

A Journalist "J" Visa may be issued for a maximum period of one (01) month with single/double/multiple entries. Duration of stay in this category is as required in each visit within the total period of validity.


Extension of visa:

Extension up to three (03) years (but not exceeding the tenure of the concerned job) could be obtained from Department of Immigration and Passport (DIP) in Bangladesh, subject to the recommendation of the External Publicity Wing of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with an approval of BIDA and the security clearance from the Security Services Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Dhaka.
